As with an IPv4 LAN network, the router has a DHCPv6 s erver. If enabled, the
router ass igns an IP address within the specified range plus additional s pecified
information to any LAN PC that reques ts DHCP s erved addres s es .
The following s ettings are us ed to configure the DHCPv6 s erver:
DHCP Mode: The IPv6 DHCP s erver is either stateless or stateful. If stateless is
selected an external IPv6 DHCP s erver is not required as the IPv6 LAN hos ts
are auto-configured by this router. In this case the router advertisement daemon
(RADVD) mus t be configured on this device and ICMPv6 router discovery
mes s ages are us ed by the hos t for auto -configuration. There are no managed
addres ses to serve the LAN nodes. If stateful is selected the IPv6 LAN hos t will
rely on an external DHCPv6 s erver to provide required configuration s ettings
The domain name of the DHCPv6 s erver is an optional s etting
Server Preference is us ed to indicate the pre ference level of this DHCP s erver.
DHCP advertise mess ages with the highes t s erver preference value to a LAN

The DNS s erver details can be manually entered here (primary/s econdary
options . An alternative is to allow the LAN DHCP client to receive the DNS
server details from the ISP directly. By s electing Us e DNS proxy, this router
acts as a proxy for all DNS reques ts and communicates with t h e ISPs DNS
servers (a WAN configuration parameter).
Primary and Secondary DNS s ervers : If there is configured domain name
sys tem (DNS) servers available on the LAN enter the IP addres s es here.
Leas e/Rebind time sets the duration of the DHCPv6 leas e from this router to the
LAN client.
IPv6 Address Pools
This feature allows you to define the IPv6 delegation prefix for a range of IP
addres ses to be s erv ed b y th e gat eway s DHCPv 6 s e rv e r . Us ing a delegation prefix
you can automate the process of informing other networking equipment on the LAN
of DHCP information s pecific for the as s igned prefix.
